Start with the wall, not the piece. Measure the width of the sofa and aim for art that covers about two thirds of it. Hang the centre of the piece at eye level, around 145 cm from the floor. Gold on a dark acrylic face works in both warm and cool rooms because it picks up lamp light in the evening.
